20 Months Old

Man oh man, we only have 4 more months until our baby girl turns 2! How can that be?

This past month Brooklyn has kept us very busy! She is actually running now. She also decided that she wanted to learn how to walk down the steps like a big person…she did really well! Most of the time we still carry her. Brooklyn got her top two “I” teeth and her hair keeps getting curlier and curlier. Brooklyn also said clear as day “Hi Taylor” to her cousin. I missed this but Jake said she did it twice. She is quite the little helper. Brooklyn will help pick up toys and put them away, if she sees a leg of her pj’s hanging over the hamper she makes sure it is in the basket. She can follow simple directions like taking something to garbage can or putting away a food item in the pantry. Brooklyn still loves milk and that is all she drinks. She is also a huge fan of the pured food packs that come in all different varieties. Brooklyn is talking more and more everyday. Her newest “cheese” face is our favorite!!!!

Snow, Snow and More Snow

We have had some crazy weather around here this winter. This past Friday it was forecasted for us to get 5-8 inches of snow. Around 10am, the snow started falling. They were the tiniest little flakes. By 2pm, the ground, cars, roads were covered! It did not let up until almost 10pm. Saturday morning Zachary and Brooklyn were so excited to see all the snow. Once it warmed up a bit, we dressed the kids in their snow gear and we headed outside. We ended up with 8.5 inches of snow, so it was not easy for the kids to walk around. Jake was able to make the kids a small snow house by our mailbox. Zach and Brooklyn did not enjoy it as much as we thought they would. Also in our cul-de-sac, there was a huge mound of snow that I went over to. Brooklyn just sat on top of the snow…Zach thought it was scary and wanted down. We also got out the sled and both of them loved being pulled around. By Monday morning most of the snow was gone, so I am so happy Zachary and Brooklyn got to go out and play.

Chocolate Cake Turned into Face Paint

Great Grandma Viravec stopped by our house on her 94th birthday. She had brought us some cake that was leftover from lunch. Zach and Brooklyn usually do really well with eating cake; not making too big of a mess. Well today, Brooklyn thought it was funny to take some of the frosting and smear it on her face. When we all laughed she added more! And then Zachary thought it was funny too and smeared frosting all over his face too. Good thing it was bath night

Zach Gets His Tractor

We bought Zach a big tracker late fall as an incentive for potty training. At first Zach thought if he went pee-pee once, the tractor was his. After he learned he did not get it until he was consistently going on the potty, the tractor did not interest him at all. It sat in the bathroom and then in his closet. For the past 3 weeks, he has stayed dry during the day at our house and at Sharon’s so we thought it was time the tractor became his. I think we are almost there in having him completely potty trained!!! We are so proud of him!

For the first time in years, Jake, myself and the kids stayed at home to ring in the new year. Mark, Mindy, Taylor and Jake’s parents came over to play games. We had a fun night full of laughs.

Christmas with the Viravec’s

We spent Christmas afternoon and evening over at Jake’s parents. It was such a great day together as a family. The kids we so excited to open more presents and of course Brooklyn needed a break in the middle of everything. All the kids had so much fun playing together in the basement and running around and around upstairs. By the end of the night, Jake and I wanted to just stay the night. Neither one of us wanted to pack up the car and drive the 15 mins home-ha! We are so blessed to be able to spend Christmas with so many loved ones!

Santa Visits Our House

Zachary and Brooklyn must have been really good this year because Santa left them each a pile of presents. Brooklyn was the first to wake up around 7:45am, so her and I enjoyed the famous homemade Dressler donuts for breakfast. Zachary finally woke up at 8:30am, so we were ready to see what Santa brought the kids. When Zach came down into our family room, he just stared…not sure if he was still waking up or was surprised to see presents in front of our tree. Santa brought Zach a dump truck, art easel, cars, Cars 2 dvd, slippers and two shirts. Santa brought Brooklyn a princess ball house, shoes, slippers, doll, Puma outfit and a book with dogs. Both of them loved all their gifts and we had most of the items out of the box that morning.
