8.31.10Like Father Like Son
by Kim
Zachary has become very attached to Jake recently. At times he has meltdowns when Jake leaves whether it be for work or just going outside. If Jake is stretching before a run, Zach needs to stretch. If Jake stubs his toe, Zach kicks the door and stubs his toe too. It is really funny! Zachary also likes to help when Jake is on the computer, but now he will not just sit on your lap, he needs to touch all the buttons. So Jake set up a little desk just for Zach so he can “work” just like his dad

Happy 3 Months, Brooklyn! Seems like she has been in our lives forever and yet it has only been 90 days. Brooklyn now weighs 12 lbs 10 oz and is 23 inches long. She has such chubby cheeks and a double chin!!! Her eyes are still so big and long eyelashes. Her blue eyes are starting to fade and are now a blue/gray/hazel/green color. Just depends on what she is wearing that day.
In the past month Brooklyn has rolled from her tummy to back, she has started to smile, laughed out loud, slept thru the night ONCE and has discovered her hands. What a busy month for a little girl! She is definitely our mover and shaker! If we do not fasten her into the swing and bouncy chair, we can most likely find her trying to get out. She even flips herself over in the carseat if she is not buckled. She is such a strong baby! She loves to stand and enjoys sitting in her bumbo chair.
Even though at times it feels like all Brooklyn does is cry, we love her to death!!!! Just seeing her smile back at you makes all the trips to her room in the middle of the night worth it.
Here are a few pictures that reflect the type of mood she was in on the 24th…
Tried again later in the day and she did much better

Zachary spent his special day driving thru the mountains in West Virginia. We finally made it to the doctor for Zach’s 18 month check-up and he weighs 25lbs and is 33 inches tall. He has lost his little belly and his face has thinned out, so to us he looks pretty skinny.
Zach is starting to say more and more words. He calls all animals “dogs”, loves when trucks drive by or we pass one on the highway, says “thank-you” and finally started to say “please.” He also counts 1, 2. We are working on getting him to say “3.” He has started to have quite the opinion on what he eats and drinks. He likes to pick out snacks, cereal, etc himself. Zach still loves to dance and sing (just like his mommy). He does not have a favorite cartoon, but will watch Dinosaur Train. He really enjoys Big Brother
Most of his days are spent playing with his toys, running around in the backyard and swimming.
We love watching our little boy grow and discover new things. Love you lots Zachary!!!!
8.31.10West Virginia, Mountain Mama…
by Kim
We spent close to an entire day driving thru the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia. They were not the rocky mountains like you see out West, but mountains covered in thousands of trees. The site of them never got old as we drove along. We found a cute little state park where we could enjoy lunch and where Zach could run around a bit.
8.31.10A Glimpse of Zachary at the Hotels
by Kim
Some of Zach’s favorite things at the hotels were the elevators, luggage carts, toilet paper and kleenex. Jake or I would always take Zach for a ride on the luggage cart to the main lobby. He got such a kick out of it and loved being able to reach the elevator buttons. One of our last nights Zach kept pretending like he was blowing his nose. All of a sudden out came LOTS of toilet paper….actually most of the roll! I could not help to laugh until I cried.
8.28.10A Day of Driving
by Kim
Next we drove thru Maryland, Delaware and around the DC area into Virginia. Jake and I enjoy going thru National Parks and Virginia happened to have one. Of course the day we wanted to drive thru it was super cloudy and the park ranger said it was too foggy to see anything at the top of the mountains. We decided not to take the 105 mile trip and continue on our way.
Driving along where we would have been up in the mountains. Good thing we did not make the trip.
8.28.103rd Baseball Game: Philadelphia Phillies
by Kim
What a great stadium! Philly has all their major sport stadiums all in one area…makes it nice if you live there. Since the Phillies are fighting for a spot in the playoffs, it was a very packed game. I personally loved the free samples we got before entering. Chips and ice cream! Finally Zach got into the game which allowed us to stay to the 7th inning. He made quite a few friends around us. When we left at least 7-8 ladies were all waving bye to him
8.28.10Learning Some US History in Philly
by Kim
We took a double decker bus tour around the city of Philadelphia. It was a great way to learn the history of the city and to see all the major sites. The buildings and statues are hundreds of years old and was so neat to see. It was a super hot day and both kids slept thru part of the tour, so Jake and I were pretty sweaty when it was over
We did try a cheesesteak sandwich (learned you do not need to say the word Philly in Philadelphia) and it was so good!!!! We also got to see the Liberty Bell up close along with the building that is on the back of $100 bills.
8.28.10Atlantic City, NJ
by Kim
We discovered Atlantic City was only about an hour drive from Jersey Shore, so we checked it out. It is a mini Vegas! All the big named hotels, shopping and not the nicest of neighborhoods if you leave the main strip. One thing we really liked was that all the hotels were located right on the beach. There was a HUGE boardwalk that went from one end to the other. We did not stay too long here, but we would love to come back for a long weekend trip.
